历史记录
On September 4, 1972 the freighter Aegean Sea collided with the freighter C.E. Dant (operated by the States Lines) in Juan de Fuca Strait. The two freighters remained stuck together with the bow of the C.E. Dant in the port side of the Aegean Sea which suffered serious damage to her forward holds. Salvage operators awaited favourable tides when the vessels would be in shallower water in case they had to be beached.
They were seperated after 67 hours locked together. The Aegean Sea was travelling in ballast to Hong Kong and was afterwards towed to the Yarrows yard in Esquimalt BC by the Sudbury II.
