Black Dave

The MMBC stated "Black Dave, a 28ft Bill Garden boat that was built in 1996 in Sidney BC by Laurie Armstrong , to Garden’s pollywog troller-cruiser design. Garden was still alive at the time, and oversaw the build process to make sure it stayed true to his design. Black Dave was Garden’s trusted mechanic for many years, so the story goes, he also had a penchant for liquor and ladies. It was a condition of sale that the name of the boat should not be changed. Naval Architect Greg Marshall was Black Dave’s owner for many years. Marshall was Bill Garden’s apprentice as a young boy."
