Notas históricas

The John Lewis-class is a series of double-hulled fleet replenishment oilers constructed to commercial standards and classified under the American Bureau of Shipping rules. It succeeds the Henry J. Kaiser-class and is intended to enhance refueling capacity and dry cargo transport in support of carrier strike groups, amphibious ready groups, and other surface forces. George Schneider (Email to Nauticapedia 25/05/2025) stated "At NASSCO, the SOJOURNER TRUTH (T-AO 210) (IMO 9838814) has been launched. She's bow-out so we couldn't see if her name has been restored to her stern, but so far there's no evidence that the President's war on DEI has affected the names of this class. In her place on the North ways they're building another ship, presumably RUTH BADER GINSBURG (T-AO 212). The next (and maybe last?) MLP, HECTOR A CAFFERATA JR (ESB 8) remains unlaunched in the graving dock."
