Story

This buoy & light tender (juiper class) was built in 1998 by Marinette Marine Corp..

Historical Notes

George Schneider (Email to Nauticapedia 01/04/2025) stated "The Coast Guard buoy tender ELM (WLB 204) (IMO 9155561) had been tied up at the B-Street Pier downtown, and I'd gotten a number of shots of her, including identification of both her boats and even the HIN on one of them. I had never seen her before; she'd previously been stationed in Atlantic Beach NC.

In 2019 she finished her mid-life overhaul and was swapped around to Astoria OR, but I've somehow missed seeing her in the 5+ years she's been haunting the West Coast. I got photos of ELM from Shelter Island as she serviced a couple channel buoys on her way out to sea. "
