He served on the Atlantic coast to 1889 when he came to Victoria BC for the sealing trade.
He was Master of the schooner Annie C. Moore.
He was Master of the schooner Libbie in which he owned an interest.
In 1906-1911 he was the Master of the DGS Quadra.
