传记
His son, Craig Marwood, reports that "Ralph Love Marwood was the President of Marine Design Associates in Victoria, BC Canada.
He completed his apprenticeship as a Junior Draftsman at Scott Lithgow Shipyard before coming to Canada to work at Yarrows Ltd. shipyard in Victoria BC.
He was a naval architect who was owner/partner of Marine Design Associates (1977-2012).
He did three designs and installations of dual fuel using CNG as the alternate fuel source. All were on passenger ferries in BC. Klatawa, Kulleet and the Osprey 2000 which is still active on the Kootenay Lake. The Klatawa and Kulleet were both above board CNG tank installations. The CNG cylinders were housed in the car deck. CNG is lighter than air and will rise if it leaks. The Osprey 2000 was a below deck CNG fuel tank installation. Ian Smart was my father's former business partner who was a Marine Engineer and with my father purchased Robert McHaffie & Associates when Bob retired in 1977. Ian and Dad renamed the company Marine Design Associates. Ian subsequently sold his share in the partnership at Marine Design Associates to Alex Hylan and Ian joined the BC Ministry of Transportation and Highways as Marine Manager."
轶事
Craig Marwood wrote (Email to Nauticapedia 27/08/2019) that "I was doing research on passenger ferries which my Father, Ralph Marwood, a naval architect who was owner/partner of Marine Design Associates (1977-2012) did significant design work on. My father passed away in May 2015. MV Klatawa was the first passenger ferry in the world to be converted to dual fuel-running on diesel (9%) and natural gas (91%). My father and his engineering/design team were responsible for bringing this technology to BC as well as the retrofit of this vessel to add compressed natural gas storage tanks on the open car deck as well as numerous other safety features. The vessel was approved for service after retrofit by Transport Canada in December 1985."
