He grew up in West Vancouver BC.
He went to England for training and joined the Merchant Marine in deep sea ships.
He returned to Canada to worked in BC coastal vessels before moving to San Fancisco CA to work for the Carrier Corp. in refrigeration. (He was qualified as a Master Mariner.) He worked for Kingcome Navigation for 30 years retiring in 1992.
