He was the Rabbi of a Congregation in England.
In 1899 he settled in Hirsch SK one of the earliest Jewish farm settlements in Saskatchewan as a farmer.
He served the community as rabbi, chairman of the school board and municipal councilor.
He was Rabbi in 1931 to 1941 and was spiritual leader at historic Temple Emanuel in Victoria, B.C.
