Capilano Brewery

It was established by Fritz Sick in 1934 at 1445 Powell Street. It was taken over by his son Emil. It purchased a baseball franchise from the Western International League and started the Vancouver Capilanos based at Athletic Park at 5th and Hemlock. The brewery changed its name in 1944 to Sicks' Capilano Brewey Ltd. and adopted a new logo. The logo was a "6" with the slogan "Sumbol of Quality "6" Sicks' & Symbolic Pronunciation." They built a new brewery in 1949 on land next to the Seaforth Armory on land occuppied by squatters. It was known as the "Home of Old Style Beer". The company was acquired by Molson Brewery in 1958.
