He taught marketing at the University of Toronto Business School.
He worked for the Hudson's Bay Company, and was Vice-President of Operations for Henry Birks& Sons Ltd. After retirement he was the Executive Director of the Business Fund for Canadian Studies in the United States.

He was appointed as a Probationary Sub-Lieutenant (Temp.) RCNVR.
He was appointed as a Sub-Lieutenant (Temp.) RCNVR (With seniority dated 18/06/1944).
In 1944 he served in HMCS Megantic. (He was demobilized.)
