Biographie
He attended the Prince of Wales School. After his naval service he attended UBC.
He earned a MSc dgree from MIT in Industrial Management in 1960.
He received an LLD from UBC in 1990.
He was Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Finning Tractor & Equipment Co. for 25 years, working with them from 1947-86.
He was a Director of Safeway Stores (USA), the Toronto Dominion Bank, Northern Telecom.
He was the son-in-law of Earl Finning.

He was appointed as a Provisional Sub-Lieutenant (Temp.) RCNVR.
He was appointed as a Sub-Lieutenant (Temp.) RCNVR.
He was appointed as a Lieutenant (Temp.) RCNVR (With seniority dated 01/07/1944).
He served HMC ML-066.
He served with RN Intelligence. (He was qualified with a Watchkeeping Certificate). (He was demobilized.)
