He was appointed as a Probationary Sub-Lieutenant (Temp.) RCNVR.

He served in HMCS Royal Roads.

He was appointed as a Sub-Lieutenant (Temp.) RCNVR (With seniority dated 30/06/1941).

He was appointed as a Lieutenant (Temp.) RCNVR (With seniority dated 01/05/1943 later backdated to 1942).

In 1943 he served in HMCS Louisbourg.

In 1943 he served in HMCS Montcalm as Executive Officer.

In 1944 he served in HMCS Stadacona. (He was demobilized 27/09/1944.)

(He survived the sinking of HMCS Louisbourg by enemy planes.

He lost an eye and recovered in a military hospital in Algiers.)
