Story

This freighter, container was built in 1980 by Avondale Shipyard in New Orleans, LA.

Historical Notes

George Schneider (Email to Nauticapedia 04/07/2025) stated "Down in South Bay, the former LASH ship HORIZON SPIRIT (624457 / IMO 7729459) remains idle following the departure of the HORIZON ENTERPRISE, apparently for scrap. She's the last of the old steam container ships Horizon line operated. She's undoubtedly being kept as a stand-by vessel for the Pasha fleet, but considering that her sister GEORGE II was converted to LNG propulsion, there's always the potential that this one will also be reactivated and modified that same way."
