Historical Notes

George Schneider (Email to Nauticapedia 27/11/2023) states "AO SHIBI IV (1133510) shows as being built by Radon. I know that name as a builder in Santa Barbara who built hundreds of small plaining-hull fiberglass fishing boats that had the reputation for staying unusually dry at high speeds, and made up for small capacity by their speed getting to and from the fishing grounds. Great rises in fuel costs in the 1970's slowed the market for these, and I thought Radon was long-gone, but this vessel is one of several listed as being built by Donald R. Radon of Goleta CA, a community near Santa Barbara, in 2002. At 60 feet long, she's the largest Radon I've known."
