This cruiser (protected) was built in 1900 by W. Cramp & Sons Co. in Philadelphia, PA.
In 1900-1904 she was owned by the Imperial Russian Navy.
In 1904-1916 she was captured as a prize of war by the Imperial Japanese Navy.
In 1916 she was returned to Russia.
