Historical Notes
George Schneider (Email to Nauticapedia 27/04/2023) stated "The next morning we were getting kicked off the pier because it was going to be used for a "Tacos and Brew" event and they didn't want our business (or, perhaps, our generators' exhaust.) As we were prepping to leave, the big yacht AQUILA (IMO 1009962) arrived, from Mexico. I bet they were going to be disappointed, eating Americanized tacos and beer after being immersed in the "real thing." I found this vessel had some connections to us, even though she's been mostly around the Mediterranean in recent years. This vessel was built by the Derecktor Connecticut shipyard in 2001, and undoubtedly contributed to the bankruptcy of that yard. This vessel is the second largest yacht ever built in the U. S., surpassed only by J. P. Morgan's last CORSAIR before WWII."
