Story

This passenger vessel (cruise ship) was built in 1997 by Fincantieri Marghera shipyard in Trieste.

Historical Notes

George Schneider (Email to Nauticapedia 27/04/2023) stated "I drove to the Broadway piers where the cruise ship BOREALIS (IMO 9122552) was tied up. The shot was into the sun, but I got away with a reasonable image of her. She's on a round-the-world voyage schedule, and wasn't on the port's schedule until this vessel arrived, and departure time wasn't given, but I knew I'd probably miss getting her underway. This vessel marks quite an upgrade for Fred Olson, whose "B" ships have been sailing since I first started watching in the 1960's with the BOHEME and BOLERO on the Caribbean cruise run. I last saw this ship in San Diego in December 2019 as ROTTERDAM. We had no idea the cruise market would get turned on its head in just a few months."
