Historische Notizen

George Schneider (Email to Nauticapedia 12/10/2022) stated "Some smaller boats have been filling in where the "official" ferry companies don't provide service. Treasure Island was built in the bay as landfill for the 1939 Worlds Fair, but with the buildings ready for use as a Naval Air Station, in which function the property fulfilled for several decades. Made redundant by the BRAC decisions, it is now being developed as a residential community, and needed a ferry connection to San Francisco. I've photographed their boat before, which says "Treasure Island" and "Yerba Buena" on it, but only this time, with active AIS on my phone, was I able to see her real name is SAMMY J (1272936) which originally was used on the Richmond run before WETA decided there was enough business to add it to their routes."
