Historia
This passenger/freight vessel was built in 1915 by Magar, George in Peace River Crossing, AB.
Notas históricas
Her engines, boiler and fittings came from the Northland Call. This vessel was in service on the Athabasca River. The re-building was not successful so this vessel was abandoned.
In 1924 this vessel was broken up on the Athabasca River.
In 1931 this vessel was still listed in the Canada Registry of Shipping. George Duddy (Email to Nauticapedia 24/06/2025) states "I have not included this vessel in my list as is stated in the government registration documents (and your book), George Magar is the official builder. Although the association between him and Askew goes back to GTP days on the Skeena River and they were neighbours at West Peace River, I have no information that Askew was the designer of the original vessel or the upgrade to Hudson's Hope. It is likely that his crew did the upgrade in the spring of 1920.
He was working on the Distributor for Lamson and Hubbard at the time and had attempted to take his Vancouver crew into the building site at Fort Smith by horse sled from Fort McMurray but were stopped by too much snow so elected to retreat to Edmonton and went in through Peace River.
They travelled down the Peace River on the motor vessel Lady Mackworth which Askew had previously built taking through the Vermilion Chutes (see photo on pg 21 of my book) and over the portage to Fort Smith. It is suspected that 1920 modifications were made by George Askew's crew enroute to completion of the building of the Distributor III at Fort Smith for Lamson and Hubbard."
