Story

This yacht, sail (ketch-rigged) was built in 1939 by Merce Industries in City Island, NY.

Historical Notes

Don Hutton states "Killdeer is a 38 ft ketch built in 1939 at City Island, New York, for Captain Meigs, a First World War US Navy Commander for him and his two sons with which to circumnavigate. The method of construction, materials used, and bronze hardware is typical of boats of this vintage built on the east coast of the US. The boat has been sailed extensively by all four consecutive owners throughout the Bahamas and the Western Caribbean."
