Story
This ferry, passenger was built in 1944 by Fellows & Stewart Inc. in Wilmington, CA.
Historical Notes
George Schneider (Email to Nauticapedia 07/12/2021) stated "MONTEREY (263383) was the steel one[Nickle-snatcher ferries], and her topsides were completed at San Diego Marine.
In the 1980s this vessel was converted to psudo-sternwheel configuration and used as a dinner boat by Star & Crescent.
In 2005 this vessel replaced GLORIETTA as the gift shop, but in a few years the allocation of the waterfront had changed and at their new pier there was no place for a floating gift shop. I presume she, too, was broken up by the Marine Group Boat Yard, but no one there claims any knowledge of it."
Owners & Masters
In 1952-2010 she was owned by the Star & Crescent Boat Co., San Diego CA USA.
Rebuilds
Mid 1980's decorated with "gingerbread", stovepipe stacks and a sternwheel to simulate a riverboat.
Repower
She had a centerline skeg with a blanked-off stern boss, making it look like originally she'd been single-screw or (unlikely) triple-screw.
