Story

This research vessel was built in 1985 by Tacoma Boat Building Co..

Historical Notes

George Schneider stated "this vessel was originally the USNS INDOMITABLE (T-AGOS 7) built by Tacoma Boat in 1985. That class was quickly out-technologied, and were mostly put up for grabs. NOAA got several, and this one became McARTHUR (R 330). But this vessel was discarded in 2015, and picked up by Stabbart at auction. I'm sure Stabbart was delighted when somebody needed one of these, and in 2017 this vessel was sold to Caladan Oceanic LLC, a company of entrepreneur Victor Vescovo. This vessel was put under Marshall Islands flag and was converted to a support ship for the manned deep submergence vehicle Triton 36000/2, and renamed DSSV PRESSURE DROP."
