歴史的注記

Kyle Stubbs (Email to Nauticapedia 18/07/2024) stated "Of the dozen-or-so fishing vessels, most were regular visitors or residents I was familiar with. However, when I walked past one of the vessels I had not spotted before, I was pleased to find her engine running, and someone wandering the deck, clearly preparing to get underway. After waiting a few minutes as I photographed surrounding boats, my observations paid off, and the boat transited past to pay a visit to the fuel dock. ANGELS GATE (CF1927VH) has a history that is both clear, and murky; at least to those of us with limited access to modern Canadian vessel records. Clearly, she's one of the many fishing vessels built in Canada that have found their way to the states and have then been admeasured to bring the Net Tonnage to a number that qualifies for a state license. That's often the first step to having such a murky history in US records, especially if the Coast Guard's PSIX system doesn't offer many details. Fortunately, in this case PSIX comes through with all kinds of information, providing year of build (2005), dimensions (47.6' x 21.4'), tonnage (42 GT/3 NT), call sign (WDI2830), and even the former Canadian registration number 827992. Unfortunately, the Canadian database clamps down and hides the information for vessels that have left documentation. That's often is not much of a barrier, at least on this coast, since the Nauticapedia Project has often captured that data for Canadian vessels registered to the western provinces. The roadblock in this case lies in the "western" part of my previous statement, as when 827992 is searched on Transport Canada, the bare minimum that's provided is it was a vessel named JESSE'S COMMAND, registered to St. John's, Newfoundland, and its registration closed in August of 2016. I have managed to dig up an image on Flickr from Frenchman's Cove, NL taken in 2012 that shows a matching vessel named JESSE'S COMMAND that confirms the ID, but I still have no information on where, or by who, the vessel was built." Clarence Vautier (Email to Nauticapedia 19/07/2024) stated "His father brought the hull from Nova Scotia and finished it in Frenchman’s Cove Newfoundland which is near corner Brook NL Canada."
