Geschichte

Historische Notizen

Dirk Septer states that "this vessel was employed on on Great Slave Lake with home port in Yellowknife, c1980s–2000s. Frequently used for freighting on the lake's East Arm to mining projects and the communities such as Lutselk'e." Captain Chris Holloway stated "I worked with a friend of mine who bought a retired Great Slave Lake commercial fishboat and used it for hauling freight on Great Slave Lake. Initially we used it as a freighter and named it the Hearne Channel, a major channel on the East Arm of Great Slave Lake. We could put about 10 tons on it. The picture I have included, shows her with a load of 55, 45 gallon drums of avgas and turbo fuel, destined for Fort Reliance up the end of the lake, about 250 miles from Yellowknife. It was a fuel stop for the air charter companies that operated in the area. Later we acquired an old barge that we could put about 80 tons on, and the Hearne Channel was the tug. We hauled freight mostly for exploration camps and the community of Lutselke on the lake, and did some salvage jobs with it."
