Historical Notes

Chris Guthrie (British Columbia Nautical History Facebook Group 08/05/2020) stated "Ted Davis rebuilt her in the early eighties after an oil stove fire burnt the house off her. Ted fished around Stuart Island." Dirk Septer (Email to Nauticapedia 07/09/2020) stated "It started out according to Edwin Monk blue prints; later abandoned; originally had a 100-hp marine type Kermath engine. According to Paul Jones, Pete Fast's brother in law, the vessel was really poorly built: "..... with a router he [Pete] incised it [the name Monad] deeply into a pair of mahogany boards that he mounted either side of the cabin. To my way of thinking, it was the best piece of woodworking he had done on the entire boat." p. 207: Jones, Paul. 2007. Out of the Rain. A prairie boy's struggle for a new life in coastal British Columbia. Hancock House Publishers."
