Historical Notes

Scott Richards (British Columbia Nautical History Facebook Group 14/01/2018) states "The Willamette Workhorse, fifty feet, twin screw, 500 horsepower, tow post aft, 12 ton donkey winch forward. Daily tasks include, crew taxi, barge shifts and assist, anchor tender for 5 Derrick (lots of cross cables to remember!). This vessel and another on site like it were re-purposed navy surplus World War Two landing craft. The traction grating was still mounted on forward hull plating. I had a blast. Truly a once in a lifetime opportunity during the 1982-1983 Ridley Island Coal construction."
