Story

This yacht, sail (cutter-rigged) was built in 2015 by Reid, Sheane Michael in Halfmoon Bay, BC.

Historical Notes

Sam Reid (Email to Nauticapedia 29/05/2022) stated "The Esther Marie got her construction start in the early 1970s with a three foot diameter Douglas Fir stem log being dropped off in Weldon (Sam) and Esther (Slim) Reid's family yard, in Gibsons BC Canada. Over 50 years, Sam Reid built his 38 ft cutter rigged Ingrid sailboat - Red Cedar hull,Yellow Cedar deck beams, White Oak ribs, Sitka Spruce box mast and a 20 horse Bukh Diesel (just enough motor to get you out of harbour). Not surprisingly, when launched this vesselsettled right on her designed (William Atkin) waterline. Both Sam and Esther Marie were in their 80s when the actual launch took place in Gibsons (2015), with the assistance of their three kids, and all before their passing in 2021. " Both Sam and Esther Marie were in their 80s when the actual launch took place in Gibsons (2015), with the assistance of their three kids, and all before their passing in 2021. Sheane and Kathy Reid own the Esther Marie."
