This patrol vessel, hero class was built in 2014 by Irving Shipbuilding Inc. in Saint John, NB.

In 2014-2020 she was owned by the Minister of Fisheries and Oceans for the Canadian Coast Guard, Ottawa ON Canada.
She was named for Ditidaht Ha’wilth Toot apoolth, Martin Charles, a retired Canadian Coast Guard seaman who was awarded the Medal of Bravery.
