Story

This bark (3-masted) was built in 1968 by Monte Cristo Charter Lines Ltd. in Vancouver, BC.

Historical Notes

Simon Bancroft (British Columbia Nautical History Facebook Group 27/01/2018) states that "I was a volunteer on this project for a few weekends in 1967. It was a remarkable achievement by Alex Brigola and his small crew. Alex designed the ship himself, he was proud to say with no formal training. It was impressive to hear at the time but today I would not say that was a good idea. Alex financed the project by shareholder agreements with suppliers and investors. His and his crew's shares were ever diminishing and before the ship sailed there was a shareholder takeover and Alex was ousted. The ship sailed successfully to Australia and as Endeavour II took part in the Cook bicentennial. This vessel was wrecked in 1971 on a sandbar at a harbour entrance on the northern tip of New Zealand." On February 22nd, 1971 this vessel was wrecked on the North Cape of New Zealand.
