This yacht, power-cruiser was built in 1961 by St. Lawrence Yacht Co. Ltd. in Dorval, QC.
Historical Notes
Terry & Gerry Gillies report that "With the Skeldings this vessel made summer cruises from Montreal up the Ottawa to Ottawa and through the Rideau Canal to Kingston and down the seaway back to Montreal. This vessel also made seven winter cruises from Montreal through the intercoastal to Florida. Terry and Gerry Gillies, bought the Hawse Bay in 1985 and kept her at the RStLYC until 1991. During that time we enjoyed cruising through the Rideau Canal, down the St. Lawrence to the Saguenay, through Lake Champlain and the Hudson to New York then back through the Erie Canal to Oswego and Lake Ontario. We also made one run to Toronto.
In 1989 we left Canada for two years and hauled the Hawse Bay for a recaulking job while we were away. Returning to Montreal in 1991 we decided to go to Victoria B.C. Hawse Bay was put on two transporters, one carrying the wheelhouse which had been cut off just below the windows and the other, the rest of the ship. (the wheelhouse went in company with a sailboat having the same destination) this vessel was delivered to a shipyard in Bellingham Washington. The wheelhouse was restored and this vessel was dropped into the water for the trip to Victoria. From Victoria we cruised south to Olympia and north to Desolation Sound and many places in between.
In 1994 we sold Hawse Bay to a chap who took her to Ketchikan. I believe this vessel was sold there, we did get a call from the new owner re some questions on the 32v DC house system."
