Historische Notizen

Kyle Stubbs (Email to Nauticapedia 17/12/2021) stated "the ex-Canadian fishing vessels, the WESTERN HUNTER (OR936AFK), a steel vessel of 74 GT built by O.C. Fergusson Ltd at Vancouver in 1983 as Canada ON 803553. I've seen her before on a couple of occasions at Charleston, Oregon, but always packed in among other vessels, so an underway view was a massive improvement. An interesting item to note are the grey tubs stacked at the stern, which identify her as a hagfish boat. Much like a crab boat, this fishery involves dropping pots stocked with some form of bait that will attract hagfish, with the intention of bringing them up as a live catch. Apparently, the slime they produce is considered a delicacy in some cuisines."
