Historical Notes

This image is a 2018 photo by George Duddy from a photo of "Blue Fox in the ice at Cambridge Bay in winter 1927-1928 from an image in Ian McKinnon's album held at the Vancouver Maritime Museum. George Duddy states "Hull: Wood with centerboard, Douglas fir sheathed in iron bark.

She and her twin sister Polar Bear were shipped north as deck cargo on the HBC supply ship Baychimo in 1927.

She was landed at Cambridge Bay in mid August and was immediately after fitting out loaded with supplies for the new Perry River post.

She was still undertaking HBC work in 1932. A caption in post manager Ian’s MacKinnon’s album at the Vancouver Maritime Museum indicates that she made a trip to King William Island that year."
