Notas históricas

This passenger freighter of the Pacific Coast Steamship Company, went hard on the rocks at Trial Island, off Oak Bay at around 4:15 a.m. on September 20, 1906 while enroute from Seattle to Victoria. This vessel was traveling at full speed when this vessel rammed the rocks. The 39 passengers, remained on board until an initial attempt to remove her by the salvage vessel Salvor and tugs Pioneer and Pilot, proved unsuccessful. The passengers were then removed and billeted in Victoria hotels. The steamer Maude was brought alongside just before noon to remove cargo from the forward holds, in attempt to lighten the ship for the next attempt to remove her from the rocks. This vessel was eventually refloated and towed to Esquimalt. On August 15, 1913 this vessel grounded in Tongass Narrows near Ketchikan Alaska and was refloated and repaired.
