Story

This fishboat, general was built in 1953 by Sandstrom, Ernest in Vancouver, BC.

Historical Notes

Dianne J. Kilback (John Grohn’s daughter) reports (Email 05/03/2018) that "The hull was constructed in the backyard of John Grohn’s parent’s building at 2580 East Hastings Vancouver B. C. in 1953. The builder was Ernest Sandstrom, a shipwright of Swedish descent. The Hull was transported down to a small shipyard near the Second Narrows bridge where it was put into the water and the cabin etc was added. It was a seiner chartered to ABC Packers. John Grohn sold it when there was a program to supply first nations fishermen with boats. The Cedric had the reputation of being a very good sea boat and quite stable even in rough weather. The Scandinavian boat builders were very good at their craft." On May 01, 1992 this vessel experinced a fire in the engine room while off the Warren Rocks, Kyuquot Sound BC Canada.
