歴史的注記
In 1935 this vessel was owned by City Mill Co., Honolulu Hawaii USA. This vessel was one of the last two working sailing ships in the Pacific Northwest. (with the Comodore). This vessel was fitted out with new masts in 1936 and after being laid up from 1938 to 1940. While under command of Captain John Vosper (Former master of the five-masted schooner Malahat) this vessel made a round trip to Sydney Australia. Her final voyage was made in November 1942 with lumber for South Africa. Unable to round Cape Horn Captain Vosper put back for Valparaiso. This vessel was condemned there and sold to Chilean owners, who installed a gasoline engine for handling sails. The City of Alberni was the last foreign-going deep-sea commercial sailing vessel to sail under the Canadian flag. The Government of Canada honoured her service and that of Canada's other five-masted schooners, with a commemorative twelve-cent stamp printed in 1977.
In 1946 this vessel was destroyed by fire at sea off the coast of Argentina.
