Historical Notes
On September 10, 1945 this vessel was on a trial run when this vessel was swamped by the wake of the Prince George in Vancouver Harbour. When Captain Gus Hegglund altered course to avoid the swell his vessel heeled over and overturned. An elderly crew member, Andrew Beaumont, died while five others fought their way clear of the wreck. Rescued were Captain Gus Hegglund; John Brynelson; John Cortez and two grandsons of the dead man. This vessel was towed back to the wharf where shewas righted with the aid of a derrick. The vessel was thought to have been carrying too little ballast and thrown off trim by newly installed live-bait tanks. On April 11, 1954 this vessel exploded and burned six miles north northwest of the Fraser River Lighship in Georgia Strait.
