Johnstone Straits (II)

In 1941 she was a commissioned United States Navy vessel of the Accentor-class coastal minesweeper, number AMc-97.

In 1953 she was purchased in San Diego in an inoperable condition by Capt Harley Brown who had her towed to Vancouver BC Canada intending to repair her and put her into an operating condition over time. Instead he used her as an investment in-kind in Dola Towing (1954). Dola used her as part of an asset swap with Straits Towing to acquire Straits old steam tug Johnstone Straits(I), the ex-Robert Preston, which Dola renamed and re-registered as Prestige II. To effect the other side of the transaction Dola registered the former minesweeper as Johnstone Straits (II) 1954 and immediately registered a Bill-of-Sale transaction to have her transferred to Straits Towing. Although Straits completed repairs and employed the vessel as a tug in an intervening period, they did not register the vessel as a powered vessel under the same ON until 1956. Under Registration 1956 the name of the vessel was also changed to Broughton Straits (II) when they elected to use the name Johnstone Straits to rename the former United States Army tug James M. Curley that they had acquired at the time.

In 1970 this vessel was owned by Jenille K. Bradley, Seattle WA USA.

In 1978 she was owned by Terrie H. Hillgardner, Seattle WA USA.

In 1981 she was owned by Straits Towing Ltd., Vancouver BC Canada.
