Notes historiques

Neil Gower states "Her official name was the "J. Mattson" although she was also unofficially known as the "John Mattson".

In 2024 you can see it in Northern Transportation’s scrap yard in Hay River.

She was built in sections in Edmonton AB, then transported to Hay River and assembled there."

Propriétaires et capitaines

In 1973-1978 she was owned by Kap's Transport (Marine Division) Ltd., Yellowknife NWT Canada.

In 1979-1985 she was owned by Arctic Transportation Ltd., Vancouver BC Canada.

In 1986-1994 she was owned by Arctic Transportation Ltd., Calgary AB Canada.

Signification du nom

Neil Gower states "John Mattson is the former President of Arctic Transportation Ltd. now (2024) living in Cochrane AB Canada." John Mattson had gone to work as a ship's master for Kap's which expanded its trucking company to compete with NTCL in the northern marine area, especially in light of the significant drilling and exploration work then underway. He doesn't know why Kaps named the ship after him but says it wasn't part of any negotiations or plan on his part. He suspects it was because he was a long time NT boatman who 'came over'."
