Historical Notes
On February 15, 1923 while under command of Captain O.B. Rolstad, this freighter was stranded on sloping rocks one mile east of Clo-oose having run ashore in reduced visibility. Enroute from San Pedro to Seattle the captain thought he was still in the vicinity of Tatoosh Lighthouse and ran aground at full speed at 5:30am in thick fog. The ground swell was strong and waves broke right over the vessel. Men fron Clo-oose gathered on the beach and helped Seaman Victor Hautopp who swan ashore with a line tied around his body. Helped ashore with the lone the men on the beach quickly rigged a breeched buoy. All the crew of 30 were rescued. The hull had several large holes and the engine room was flooded. This vessel was not salvaged.
