This fishboat, (shrimp) was built in 1995 by Hung Thanh Vo (owner) in Empire, LA.

George Schneider (August 2026) writes: This vessel leaves a lot of questions. Her radio call sign and her propulsion data were never registered with the Coast Guard. And although she undoubtedly was completed as a shrimp boat, this photo shows her with the kind of modifications made to shrimp boats when converted to longliners for Pacific Ocean work. This conversion was probably done in 2016 when she was first registered to a Hawaii owner, but there is no evidence she ever went to the Pacific, and if she did, it's a puzzle why she's back in the Gulf. The best guess is that she's a conversion that could never be paid for, and yet her registration continues to be kept valid.
