Histoire

This freighter was built in 1920 by Long Beach Ship Building Co., Long Beach CA.

Notes historiques

In 1920 this steel freighter was built for the Mexican coastal trade but was then considered to be too small to be profitable. In May 1921 this vessel was chartered from San Francisco by the Hudsons Bay Company, London UK to support the vessels Lady Kindersley & Mackenzie River. This vessel carried as crew of 15 and had accomodation for 15 passengers. This vessel sailed for Petropavlovsk on the Kamchatka Peninsula. This vessel carried to gasoline launches and two barges as deck cargo. On May 30, 1948 this freighter, while en route to Port William Alaska from Seattle with canning supplies, ran aground in string tidal currents on Maude Island near Ripple Rock in Seymour Narrows. The Fisheries Protection vessel Kitimat and the fishboat Koskeemo stood by for 18 hours awaiting favourable conditions to pull the vessel into deeper water. After removing some of her cargo this was effected the following day.

In 1970 this vessel was reported as having been broken up, even though she's carried into 1981 by the US Coast Guard's published record.
