Historische Notizen

George Schneider (May 2026) writes: This is one of some 78 vessels built for the Navy as "Covered Lighters" by various yards.

They were intended mostly for harbor work, serving vessels at anchor. This vessel was laid up soon after WWII and sold surplus in 1974.

She apparently was modified around 1978 for use as a seisimic vessel, resulting on her move away from the West Coast. There's no evidence she ever worked as a fishing boat, and was badly neglected by the time she was offered for reefing.

She was scuttled off Cape May NJ USA as a fishing reef in70 ft of water on 21 August 1992.
