Story

This patrol boat was built in 1943 by Harbor Boat Building Co. in Terminal Island, CA.

Historical Notes

George Schneider (May 2026) writes: She only wore her YMS designation briefly during construction and never served as a minesweeper. After whaling became unpopular, I'm not sure what function she served, but she flopped around San Francisco Bay for many years. This photo was the best view I ever got of her. One time she was anchored close to the Berkeley shoreline, with perfect lighting and perfect background, but Interstate Highway 80 hugged the shoreline there, and I wasn't willing to risk my life (or worse, my Rambler American) to pull off and get a shot of her.

She was reported to have burned while at anchor near Stake Point in Suisun Bay, and her documents expired later that year.
