Story

This motor torpedo boat was built in 1945 by Higgins Industries Inc. in New Orleans, LA.

Historical Notes

George Schneider (Feb 2026) writes: Many sources give her the name "RCT 13." The number 13 was painted on her when she operated for the Pacific Missile Range at Point Mugu CA, purely a local identity number. Her official designation was still C105343, consistent with the numbering of all Navy boats at the time. Documents also refer to her during this period as CTBR 13 (Controlled target boat-Radio) and HM 13 (Her local voice radio call). Although most records state that she was sold in 1958, Long Beach Naval Shipyard records for 1959 include her among the Point Mugu craft being upgraded there, so this date is suspect.

In 1945-1958 she was owned by The United States Navy.
