Historical Notes
George Schneider (Email to Nauticapedia 04/07/2025) stated "Further along, at the commercial 10th Avenue terminal, were three Coast Guard vessels. One was a regular, the 418-foot "Legend" class cutter WAESCHE (WMSL 751), already 15 years old. Also present was the year-old 154-foot "Sentinel" class cutter DAVID DUREN (WPC 1156.) She's not a regular here, and I see she was assigned to be homeported in Astoria, Oregon. These were planned to replace the 49 "Island" class 110-foot cutters but so far 67 of them have been funded, with more planned. Both classes are based on European patrol boat designs."
