歴史的注記
George Schneider (Email to Nauticapedia 01/04/2025) stated "This is the second ship to be named for this WWII nurse, the first being known simply as USS HIGBEE (DD-806). There seems to be a growing trend in the Navy to use full names on ships, which isn't very merciful on the crew, but indeed does better to honor the namesakes."
