In c191925 he started as a Deck Cadet in the Donaldson Line. After his naval service he was Vice-President of Lunham and Moore in Montreal QC, then President and CEO of Northland Navigation in Vancouver BC.

He was appointed as an A/Commander (Temp.) RCNR. (He was demobilized 08/06/1945.)
