He was a whaling captain active in the Arctic.
In 1908-1909 he owned the Rosie H. at Baillie Island NWT.
In 1908-1909 he served as Master of the Rosie H and made a voyage to Flaxman Island Alaska.
In 1909-1910 he served as Master of the schooner Rosie H. on a voyage to the Booth Islands, Cape Parry Northwest Territories.
He was said to have originally come from the German part of Switzerland.
