He was an avid yachtsman.
He was the eldest son of Robert Dollar.
In 1924 he founded the Canadian-American Shipping Co. when the Robert Dollar Co. transferred to San Francisco from Vancouver BC.
In 1924 he was the President of the Vancouver Merchants Exchange.
In 1925 he was the President of the Vancouver Board of Trade.
In 1926 he was the President of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce.
In 1930 he was the President of the Vancouver Chamber of Shipping.
