Biografie
(He was qualified as a Master Mariner).
He went sealing out of Victoria BC in 1890 in the schooner Minnie.
In 1892 he was Master of the Sea Lion. While on a voyage from Victoria to Kamchatka he put into Sand Point AK apparently in distress. While there he was seized by an US Revenue Cutter, but he escaped back to Victoria where he was protected by the Canadian Government.
In 1892-94 he was the Master of the Casco sailing between San Francisco CA and the Orient.
In 1898 he was half owner of the schooner Kate, based in Victoria BC.
In 1909 he served as the Keeper of the Estevan Point Lighthouse.
He was a Marine Pilot and Marine Superintendent for Whalen Pulp and Paper Mills Co. at Port Alice BC 1920-21.
He lived in Quatsino Sound 1920-26.
